SOUTHERN FRENCH FARE ENHANCED BY INCREDIBLE OCEAN VIEWS
With inventive food, a warm atmosphere and stunning views, Ocean at the Cape Arundel Inn invites guests and community members to linger. Executive Chef Pierre Gignac’s new menu reveres the coastal Maine oceanic harvest with an approach of French-inspired simplicity. Highlights include sea scallops with hen of the woods, lemongrass, coconut milk velouté and asparagus as well as Marseille bisque with shrimp, clam, mussel, scallop, crab, Pernod, and sweet pepper aioli as starters. Entrees include Scottish salmon with vegetables, salmon caviar and champagne beurre blanc; and lamb rack with green olive tapenade, zucchini blossoms, fava beans, and tarragon vinegar sauce. Desserts such as blond chocolate truffle cake with a hazelnut praline crust and orange cream hit diners’ sweet spot.
Noted Kennebunkport interior designer Louise Hurlbutt was inspired to design Ocean in harmony with the views from its panoramic windows in a simply elegant color palette of crisp black, metal grey and sea, with a rich geometric carpet. A new mahogany bar encourages diners to enjoy the view before sitting comfortably in grand leather banquette seating as candles flicker on white tablecloths.
